Born October 26, 1947, in Hahira, he lived all of his life in Cook County and w was of the Christian faith. He was a manager with Steel Building Technologies a and a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War receiving the National Defense Service M Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Navy Commendation M Medal. Survivors include his wife, Susan Bostic Sumner; son Adam Sumner; daughter, Tara Sumner; mother, Mrs. Doris Fielding Sumner, all of Hahira; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott and Barbara Sumner, Mike and Mitz Sumner of Ft. Myers, FL, Phillip and Barbara Sumner of Charleston, SC, Douglas Sumner; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Dennis Gordon of Hahira; brother-in-law, Larry B Bostic of Nashville. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Roy C. Sumner a and nephew, Dennis Todd Gordon. Funeral services were held February 20 at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with the Revs. Charlie Scarborough and Ike Jefferson. Wayne and Mary Nell Boyette sang “Amazing Grace,” “I Call It Home,” and “Go Rest High on That Mountain.” Interment followed at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Jed Huckaby, Shane Martin, Cale Giddens, Wilson Lin Lindsey, Cody Vining, Jake Whitaker. Honorary pallbearers were Ricky Bailey, John Bailey, Leon McDonald, Russell Me Meadows, Tim Meadows, Wade Keck, David Morgan, Dr. Russell Acree, Thomas Hi Hickey, David Bailey, Will Stodghill, Kevin Horton, Josh Horton, Richmond hall, Da David Atkins, Jim Janek, The Patriot honor Guard also served.
