She was born September 24, 1924, in Worth County to the late Charlie and Alma White Champion. She was a homemaker and retired retail store manager with Uniform City in Tampa, FL. She was a member of Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church and the widow of Ralph Stephen Sumner who died in 1970. She was also preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Ed) Friend of Kennesaw and Margaret Sumner Newman of Tampa; three sons, Carlton Ralph (Barbara) Sumner of Germantown, TN, Steve (Cheryl) Sumner of Ray City, and Gene (India) Sumner of St. Marys; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 5 at 3 p.m. at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Sumner officiating. Interment followed at Hickory Springs Cemetery. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
