G. Sutton, 80, of Alapaha died May 24, 2005 at Berrien Nursing Center. Born August 24, 1924 in Berrien County to the late Lora Garfield and Mary Wheeler Sutton, he was a retired machinist with Nashville Mills. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of Nashville Post VFW and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Register Sutton of Alapaha; one daughter, Mary Mathis of Nashville; one son, Bobby Sutton of Nashville, one step-son, Richard Powell of Alapaha; two sisters, Rosie Rowe and Bessie Ricks, both of Nashville; two brothers, Talley Sutton and James Sutton, both of Nashville; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 27 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with Elder Robert Conner and Revs. Junior Swain and Mike Gibbs officiating. Interment was in Westview Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Larry Futch, Newt Hughes, Ben Warren, Chris Sumner, Edwin Register, Andrew Powell. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Richard Wheeler, Dr. Henry Richbourg and members of Nashville VFW. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
