Born Sept. 19, 1910 in Berrien County to the late Dred and Lula Rowan Swain, he was a farmer and employed for many years with Farmers Livestock Auction CO. He was a member of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Alfa Sirmans Swain of Nashville: two daughters, Laquietta Griffin and Sara Faye Jones, both of Nashville; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 14, at 4 p.m. at Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Junior Swain and Johnny Hendley officiating. The church choir provided appropriate music accompanied by Carolyn Jean Kirkland. Interment was in Poplar Springs Cemetery, Active pallbearers were Dale Hand, Mike Hand, Jeffrey Purvis, Stanley Purvis, Brett Jones, Bob Jones. Honorary pallbearers were W. S. Perry, Ed Perry, Steve Perry and deacons of Poplar Springs Church. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
