Born June 18, 1919 in Nashville to the late Will V. and Cora Bell Turner Taylor, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, had worked as a welder with Bankhead Enterprises and was an avid farmer. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Fay Taylor of Valdosta; children, Hilda L. Nunez of Fernandina Beach, FL, Bobby Joe Taylor (June) of Perry, Alaine Farmer (Carl) of Perry, Dustin Wade (Christina) of Macon, Candace Wade Miller (Kenneth) of Valdosta, Rita Clark (Jerry) of Macon, Edward Stevens of Roberta, and Joan Stevens-Greene (Robbie) of Gray; one brother and sister-in-law, Bob Taylor (Virginia) of Nakina, NC; 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Wendell Russell Taylor, and several brothers and sisters. A graveside service was held February 19 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. J.R. Swain officiating. Music selections were "If We Never Meet Again" and "Amazing Grace" sung by Courtney Farmer. Taps was played by Gerald Chaney at the end of the service. Purvis Funeral Home of Adel was in charge of arrangements.
