He was born Sept. 5, 1950 in Valdosta to the late Allison Larry Taylor and the late Mildred Rebecca “Mim” Long. He was a retired educator with the Berrien County Board of Education and a member of Berrien Retired Teachers. For many years he served Berrien High School sports as the basketball scorekeeper and the football statistician. His love for the Lord led him to be very active in his church, the Nashville United Methodist Church, where he served in various capacities which included, but were not limited to, being the Sunday School teacher for the Jackie Bently Class and a member of the chancel choir. He also s sang with the groups One Accord and The Rainbow Boys. He was an avid fan of the A Andy Griffith Show and a Red Cross blood donor with 14 gallons given. He is survived by his wife: Sandra Pearman Taylor of Nashville; one daughter, Becky Taylor of Athens; one sister, Beth Taylor of Monticello; his mother-in-law, Martha Jane law, Martha Jane Pearman of Chula; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leroy and Carole Pearman of Winter Springs, Fla., and Elton and Glenda Pearman of Chula; a special niece, Tanya Coe; and nieces and nephews: Steffen and Heather Abby, Clay and Christa Pate, and Nathan Pearman. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Nashville United Me Methodist Church with the Rev. Russ Elkins and the Rev. Mark Stone officiating. Re Renee Gaskins will serve as pianist and the congregation will sing "Leaning on th the Everlasting Arms." "Thank You" will be played on CD. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 tonight. Pallbearers will be Keith Powell, Bo Lovein, Bob Lovein, Hank Decker, Michael J Jones, Guy Martin, Wayne Harris, Dennis Proctor. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Jackie Bently Sunday School Class. Memorials are requested to the Nashville United Methodist Church ministries: J JAM, Caring Place, Altar Fund or Building Fund. Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville, is in charge of arrangements.
