"Alex" Tchinski, Jr., 86, former of Atlanta, Deltona, FL, and Nashville, died Oct. 14, 2007 at Shands Pavilion Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. Born June 8, 1921 in Fairmont, WV to the late Alexander J. and Constance Britton Tchinski, he graduated from Maris College. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Montpeller during WWII. After discharge, he was married to Lela Hendley. They were married for over 57 years. He was employed by Caulk Dental Supply as a contact salesman for 36 years, retiring in 1986. He lived in Atlanta before moving to Deltona to be closer to his son, Tim Tchinski. After his son's death, he and his wife, Lela, relocated to Nashville to be near her loving family. Lela died while in Nashville in 2004. He relocated to Jacksonville, FL a few years after Lela's passing to be near his brother and sister-in-law, Bernie and Mary Ruth Tchinski. Everyone commented what a generous, kind man he was with impeccable manners, "true southern gentleman," with the looks to match. He lived his life with great emotion and concern for others. In addition to his wife, his son, and his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Frederic and Eugene Tchinski. Survivors include his brothers and a sister-in-law, Bernie and Mary Ruth Tchinski and Joseph Tchinski; sister-in-law and friend, Vivian Hendley and extended family members, the Hendleys of Nashville; many nieces and nephews from Nashville and Jacksonville, FL and throughout California. A memorial service was held October 17 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Corey- Kerlin Funeral Homes and Crematory of Jacksonville with Msgr. Vincent J. Haut officiating.
