Born July 7, 1928 in Pinellas County, FL to the late Allen and Bertha Alice Stanford Thomas, he was retired after 22 1/2 years with inventory control at Nashville Mills. He was a member of Wayside Missionary Baptist Church in Tifton. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Marie Boyd Thomas of Nashville; two daughters, Patricia Mae Smith of Jesup and Brenda Kay Skillman of LaGrange; five sons, Jesse Jay Thomas, James Roberson Thomas, Jr., Ancil Georgia Thomas all of Nashville, Danny Duane Thomas of Tifton, Paul Anthony Thomas of Alapaha; one sister, Veda Mae Whorton of Lebanon, TN; two brothers, Loren Thomas of Wauchulla, FL and George Thomas of Bristol, IN; 16 grandchildren, two great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Smith Gentry and Skip Van Nus and Mr. Danny Broyles officiating. Coy Tawzer and the Wayside Church choir sang "Amazing Grace" and "Sweet Hour of Prayer," Cassie Tawzer sang "Daddy's Hand," Mark Gill sang "I Want Us To Be Together in Heaven," accompanied by Faye Roberts. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Pallbearers were Danny Tucker, Charles Thomas, Wayne Cook, Harold Cook, Russell Harper, Mark Harper, Tim Broyles, Butch Thomas. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Additional survivors and deceased family; grandchildren, Rebecca M. Smith and husband, Wesley Bradford Thornton, Leann Thomas Ray and husband, Curtis Ray, Gentry Thomas, Sgt. Frankie Campos serving in Germany, LeAnn Reliford, Aaron Thomas, Michael Reliford, Aleasha Thomas, Mark Skillman, Jesse Jay Thomas, Jr., Jonathon Thomas, Jessica Thomas, Amanda Thomas, Alison Thomas, Magen Thomas, Dylan Thomas; great-grandchildren, Wesley Allen and Zachary Evan Thomas sons of Rebecca and Brad Thornton, honorary daughter, Mollie Porter of Valdosta. Deceased son, Billy James Thomas; deceased brothers and sisters-in-law, Allen Vinson and Clora Nell Thomas of Wauchula, FL, Windell Thomas of Alapaha; deceased sister, Lillian McKinney.
