Born October 12, 1933 in Berrien County to the late Jim and Ethel McMillan Luke, she was a homemaker and member of Rowetown Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to Donald Edward Thurman who died in 1981. Survivors include daughter, Linda Smith of Nashville; son, Jimmy Thurman of Randolph, AL; three sisters, Della Luke, Jean Bostic and Beatrice Roberts, all of Nashville; three grandchildren, Joey Thurman, Jimmy Thurman, Jr., Tabitha Oliver. Funeral services were held May 9 at 2 p.m. at Flat Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Exum officiating. "Go Rest High On That Mountain," "Will the Circle be Unbroken?" and "Down to the River to Pray" were played on CD. Interment was in Flat Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Derik Whitley, Robert Whitley, Richard Whitley, Lamar Eason, James Eason, Robert Bennefield. Honorary pallbearers were Wade Aycock, Donald Bennefield, Dewayne Bennefield, Tim Yeomans, Donald Exum. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
