Born June 16, 1926 in Nashville, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Betty Pitts Meyer. After graduating from Nashville High School in 1943, she went to Washington D.C. and worked at the Pentagon in the chemical warfare department until the end of WWII. She returned home, was a homemaker, and in 1948 began producing Brahman livestock with her husband, the late Lindsey Mack Tucker. This venture is now the largest Brahman farm operation in Georgia. At age 65, she fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a librarian. She worked at Carrie Dorsey Memorial Library for the next 17 years, serving as branch manager at the time of her death. With determination and devotion, she worked one half day at the library on the day of her brain surgery in Atlanta in March of this year. She was a member of Wayside Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Van and Gayle Tucker of Alapaha and Scott and Debbie Tucker of West Berrien; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and James Oliver of Apopka, FL; sisters, Pete Sizemore of Avon Park, FL and Hermie Harvey of Middleburg, FL; seven grandchildren, five great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held June 25 at 11 a.m. at Wayside Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Smith Gentry officiating. Carolyn Tawzer served as pianist. Interment was in Tift Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers were grandsons, Lindsey Tucker, Clark Coursey, Matthew Furey, Toby Blanton, David Schmidt, great grandsons, Hank Snead, Will Roberts, Matt Roberts. Honorary pallbearers were Perry Memorial Library staff and board members. Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funeral was in charge of arrangements.
