Ms. Turner was born on March 27, 1943 in Nashville, Berrien County and was the youngest child of the late Ruby Christina Gaskins Turner and the late Dr. W.W. Turner Jr. Her maternal grandparents were Frances Josephine Peeples Gaskins and Alvah E. Gaskins of Nashville, Berrien County. Her paternal grandparents were William Waugh Turner and Ruth Solom Dorman Turner of Winnsboro, Fairfield, S.C. Ms. Turner attended schools in Berrien Co., where she graduated from Berrien High School in 1961; afterwards, she attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO; and the University of California at Lot Angeles, where she received her associates degree in fine arts. She toured with the America Touring Company, a David Merrick Production and appeared in The Cactus Flower, with Marsha Mason and Hugh O'Brien. Afterward, she appeared in several daytime dramas, Woody Allen films, and developed a cabaret act which she performed in the East Village, New York City in the 1970's. She designed showcase' productions for aspiring actors and singers throughout the New York area, who performed her productions in nursing homes, retirement homes and for groups of senior citizens, who otherwise would not have had chances to witness up and coming actors and singers. She later was a receptionist with Calvin Klein of New York, and during that time pursued studies and qualified as certified financial analyst. Ms. Turner is survived by one sister, Elaine Turner Cantrell Bynum of Cartersville; one brother, William Waugh Turner III of Nashville; uncle and aunt, Alvah W. Gaskins Jr. and Lottie Gray Keeffe Gaskins; aunt, Marie Gaskins Prince; uncles, Dr. J. D. Turner, Winnsboro, S.C. and Dr. T.D. Clark, Lexington, Ky; niece, Elizabeth Cantrell McCusker and her husband, Peter S. McCusker; and niece, Joan Elaine Cantrell and five great nephews and nieces. Ms. Turner's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at the Lovein Funeral Home Chapel. Immediately following the service, she will be buried in Westview Cemetery, Nashville. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. today. The Rev. Richard Trawick will officiate. Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville.
