Born July 1, 1931, in Calhoun County, AL, to the late Bernard "B.T." and Carrie Crossley Turner, he was a retired truck driver. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Harris Turner of Enigma; one daughter, Nancy Silverthorn of Enigma; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Richard and Stacy Turner of Leawood, Kansas, and Jim Turner of Nashville; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty Harp of Tifton, Louise White of Chula, Sue and J.W. Steedley of Blackshear; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Rob and Mary Turner of Tifton, Wendell and Carolyn Turner of TyTy, Ernest and Gail Turner of Omega; four grandchildren, Matt, Christian, Jason and Erika Turner. He was preceded in death by two brothers, David Turner and Clarence Turner, and a sister, Dianne Greene. Funeral services were held January 15 at 2 p.m. at Vickers Church with Rev. Ronnie Lawson and Becky King officiating. The Larry Carter family sang "Swing Wide the Gates" and "No Tears in Heaven." Interment was in Vickers Cemetery. Pallbearers were G.W. Pearman, Larry Crumley, Johnny King, Jack Wood, Harold Turner, David Lindsey. Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangement.
