"Billy" Tygart, Sr. 85, of Gainesville, FL died January 24, 2004 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. Born in Nashville to the late Wyna G. and Ruby Morton Tygart, he lived in Nashville until WWII when he joined the Army. After military service, he returned to Nashville where he owned and operated Nashville Radio Repair Service and Sunset Drive-In Theater. In 1951 he moved to Marietta where he was employed with Lockheed Aircraft Corporation as an engineer. He acquired six U.S. patents for aeronautical and medical electronic equipment. He was a member of the Inventor's Hall of Fame for his work on the first cardio fax EKG. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Gainesville Amateur Radio Society. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy H. Tygart of Gainesville, two sons, William H. Tygart, Jr. of Atlanta and Joseph Michael Tygart of Fort Bragg, NC; one brother, Walter Patrick "Pat" Tygart of Windmere, FL; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
