He was 75 years of age. Mr. Tyson, a retired rural mail carrier, had lived in Berrien County most of his life. He died at 9:42 p.m. Monday in the Askew Memorial Hospital. He was born in Berrien County, February 17, 1886, the son of Seaborn and Rachel Bennett Tyson, both deceased. A member of the Nashville Baptist Church and a mason, he was a rural mail carrier for 38 years, retiring in 1954. He married Jessie Rogers November 1, 1916. Funeral services were held in the Nashville Baptist Church with Rev. Ira B. Faglier in charge of services. Interment followed in the Westview Cemetery. The Men’s Chorus of the Baptist Church provided music. Active pallbearers were C.W. Anderson, L.A. Browning, T.C. Freeman, W.E. Griffin, B.L. Tygart, and T.D. Wilson. A group consisting of masons, his Sunday School class, nephews, and other friends sat in an honorary group. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Archie Tyson, Nashville, two sons, Dr. Arthur M. Tyson, Berkley, Calif., and James C. Tyson, Terre Haute, Indiana, one daughter, Mrs. G.W. Garrett, Jacksonville, Fla. Several nieces and nephews and 7 grandchildren also survive.
