VanWart, 62, of Nashville, formerly of Saugerties, NY, died August 1 15, 2012, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. Born January 28, 1950, in Saugerties to Doris Legg VanWart of Mt. Marion, NY and the late Floyd VanWart, he was a 1968 graduate of Saugerties High School and a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving in the U.S. Navy Seabees. Active in the Saugerties Community, he was a member of the CA Lynch Fire Co. where he served as president for many years and was a member of the Saugerties American Legion Post. He was a Commander of the Saugerties Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5034 from 1984-1986, and also served as a White Hat Commander for Ulster County Veterans of Foreign Wars serving on the All State Team of County Council Commanders from 1987-1988. He was manager for the Great American Sparks Girls Softball team. John’s love for his God, family and country never faltered, and hi his passion for living life to the fullest never failed. He was an avid NY Ya Yankee/Giants fan, loved fishing, hunting, boating and gardening with his gr grandchildren. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include the love of his life, wife of 41 y years, the former Patricia Young; three daughters, Jessica and her husband, C Christopher Sullens of Nashville, Wendy and her husband, Michael Craig of Ft. W Wayne, IN, and Tracy and her husband, Joshua Zurenda of Portsmouth, VA; sister, D Debbie Tome of Mt. Marion; brother, Thomas VanWart of Kingston; six g grandchildren, Justin and Johnathon Navas, Alexa Sullens, Dominique and Anthony C Crudup and Sadie Craig; several nieces, nephews and cousins; his favorite k kitties, Lucky and Duke; his best friend and cousin, Paul Legg. Funeral services were held August 21 at 11 a.m. at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral home. Seamon-Wilson Funeral Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
