 Tharon Jackson Vickers, 78, of Alapaha died April 29, 2009, at the VA 
Hospital in Gainesville, FL.
 He was born on April 14, 1931, in Berrien County to the late William Thomas 
(Bud)and Mattie Ora McClellan Vickers. He was a retired shipping clerk with 
Royal Typewriter, a Mason and Shriner, an Army veteran, and a member of New 
Griffin Missionary Baptist Church.
 He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Gaskins of Valdosta; brother, Darward 
Vickers, Alapaha, nieces and newphews. He was preceded in death by two 
brothers, Elmon Vickers, Wilbur Vickers and three sisters, Wilma Bostic, Ann 
Harris, Vidareen Bray.
 Funeral services were held May 2 at 11 a.m. at New Griffin Missionary Baptist 
Church with the Revs. Sim Youngblood and Junior Swain officiating. Music, 
provided by the church choir, included "One of Them," "Just Over the Stars," 
and "He'll Hold to My Hand."
 Interment was in Mt. Paron Cemetery.
 Pallbearers were Glenn Harris, Darrien Harris, Ron Gaskins, Archie Gaskins, 
Chad Vickers, David Bostic, Iraman Vickers, Charles Vickers, Dana Harris, 
Randall Vickers.
 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
