 Mary Vickers, age 82, of Lakeland, formerly of Nashville, passed away late 
Saturday, July 16, 2005, evening in South Georgia Medical Center after a 
lengthy illness. She was born in Marlboro, South Carolina on May 6, 1923, to 
the late Benjamin and Clara (Hayes) Mills. 

 She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Vinson Vickers; two 
sons, Richard and Curtis Burr; granddaughter, Jennifer Royals; sister Chris 
Jacobs Emanuel and two brothers, B.F. Mills and Billy Carlisle. Mrs. Vickers 
was a member of Knight Memorial Baptist Church. 

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Vinson and Beth Vickers of 
Valdosta, David and Linda Vickers of Sparks; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and 
Bob Royals of Lakeland; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two great-
great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Emanuel of West Columbia, S.C.; and 
numerous nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2005, in the Lakeland chapel of 
Music Funeral Services at 11a.m. with burial following in Westview Cemetery in 
Berrien County. Visitation will be held this evening from 6-9 p.m. at the 
Funeral Home. 

 Music Funeral Services of Lakeland was in charge of arrangements.
