He was born on Aug. 16, 1929, in Berrien County to the late Auly and Tishie Gaskins Vickers. He was a retired farmer. He is survived by his wife, Sara Willis Vickers of Nashville; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Alton Exum, Nashville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Carlos and Judy Vickers, Lamar and Ann Vickers, all of Nashville; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, William Vickers, Brent Vickers, both of Nashville, and James Vickers of Douglas. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Vickers; and a daughter, Vickie Vickers. Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Junior Swain, the Rev. Mickey Lindsey and the Rev. Eddie Samples officiating. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. — Active pallbearers were James Griner, Jimmy Watson, Herman Tucker, Dane Perkins, Ronnie Walker, Sonny Griner.
