Vickers, 77, of Fleming Island, FL, died June 7, 2010 at his re residence. He was born on July 21, 1932, in Bannockburn and was predeceased by his p parents, Freddie and Rhoda Vickers and his brother, Gene Vickers. He was a f faithful and loved member of Lakeside Church of Christ in Orange Park, FL, s since 1989 and had served faithfully in other congregations in Florida since 1 1964. He served two years in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 as a military p policeman. He was employed by Gulf Oil Corporation for 25 years and retired f from BP Oil as District Manager in 1992. He was an avid Goldwing rider and a m member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association. He also loved riding his b bicycle almost every day of the week and enjoyed any outdoor activity. A h husband, father, brother and son, he was adored by many, young and old. He was a a man who loved life and lived each day he was given to the utmost fullest. He h had no regrets in his life, only smiles and a joke for anyone who would look h his way and lend him an ear. Always positive, always upbeat, always there when s someone needed a hand. He will be missed deeply, remembered forever with much r respect and love, and, as he would say, "Let's Ride." Bennie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Louise Vickers (formerly Louise Shouse Shouse, daughter of Homer and Ruby Shouse), daughter and son-in-law, Karen Vickers Hawver and Charles Hawver; five sisters, Maggie Vaughn, Anne Bohananan (Alfred), Ava Ramsey (Sam), Jo Culpepper (Danny) Faye Zittrouer (Richard); brothers, Julian Vickers (Betty), Wayne Vickers (Judy) and Londie Vickers, sister-in-law, as well as a multitude of other family members and dear friends. Funeral services were held on June 11 at 10 a.m. at Lakeside Church of Christ in in Orange Park, FL. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery at 12 noon. Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Orange Park were in charge of a arrangements.
