She was born on July 7, 1912, in Berrien County to Moner and Elma Dubose Lewis. She was a homemaker and member of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Leo C. Vickery who died in 1999, and was also preceded in death by a son, Murrell Vickery who died in 1986, two sisters, Mittie Ashburn and Nadine Stresnic, three brothers, Culpepper Lewis, J.B. Lewis and Penny Wink Lewis. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Prince Kirkland, Peggy and Donald Snipes, of Hampton; eight grandchildren, David Kirkland, Tracy Kirkland, both of Valdosta, Selena Smith, Bainbridge, Regina Lewis, Griffin, Donna Fouts, Hampton, Karen Davis, Douglasville, Greg Vickery, Valdosta, Jana Wendt, Douglasville; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Mitchell officiating. Burial will be held in Westview Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or make memorial to Hospice of South Georgia. Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville.
