The child was killed instantly Monday night at about 6:30 when he was run over by a dump truck in the front of his home here. His grandfather, W.T. Hunt had driven the truck into the yard, and a co-worker, Ed Greene, slipped under the steering wheel to move the truck from the yard. The child, unnoticed by both men, ran out to meet Mr. Hunt and was knocked down by the truck, which ran over his head. The boy was born in Lowndes County, January 23, 1947. He is survived by his parents; one brother, Daniel Walker; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Hunt and E.B. Walker; his great grandparents, Mrs. W.J. Clements and Ms. Lennie Walker; and several aunts and uncles. With Lovein Funeral Home in charge of arrangements, the Rev. O.E. Graves officiated at the final rites yesterday at 3 p.m. “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be” was rendered by Mrs. T.C. Perkins, Mrs. Carl Wilkerson, Roy Davis, and Edgar Griffin. Mrs. Jack Dix was at the organ. Employees of the South Georgia Ice Company, where the child’s father is employed, served as pallbearers. They were: Henry Bailey, Gerald Hughes, Wallace Gaskins, Hardy Giddens, Billy O’Quinn, and Edward Stallings.
