Watson, Prominent Citizen, Died Last Thursday Dr. Hubert M. Watson, well known resident and business man of Nashville, died at 8:15 o’clock last Thursday evening at his home here following an illness for the past three years. He was 64 years of age. Dr. Watson was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R.N. Watson of Merriwether county. He came to Nashville in 1915, working for several years thereafter for Dr. D.E. Carter and later for Dr. Selma Rentz. He purchased the business in 1919 and was senior partner with his brother, Dr. Ralph H. Watson, in the Union Pharmacy. He was well known throughout this section and had many friends. Dr. Watson was a Mason and a Shriner, being a member of Duncan Lodge here and the Alee Temple at Savannah. He was a member of the Nashville Methodist church, having served as a steward in that church for a number of years. He was married on July 15, 1919 to Miss Ella Bullock, by whom he is survived. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 11 o’clock Saturday morning with interment in the New City cemetery. The services wee conducted by Rev. L.E. Williams of Statesboro, a former pastor, and Rev. W.M. Hobbs, present pastor of the Methodist church. A mixed choir sang “We’ll Understand” and “It Is Well With My Soul.” The Giddens Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Pall-bearers were J.R. Bennett, J.P. Harper, E.H. Brown, W.L. Clark, E.R. Smith, J.D. Holland, E. Jenkins and M.E. Perry. Surviving besides his wife is one daughter, Sarah Katherine Watson, student of the University of Georgia of Athens; three brothers, L.E. Watson I of Greenville, R.N. Watson of Sparks, and Dr. Ralph H. Watson of Nashville, and one sister, Miss Kate Watson of Nashville. Out of town people who attended the funeral services included: G.E. Bullock and Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Cluder of Savannah, Miss Grace Bullock of Winter Haven, Fla., T.L. Bullock of Monticello, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Pat Frost of Brunswick, Miss Pearl Bullock of Fort Meyers, Fla., Mrs. W.F. Harman and Mrs. B.L. Southwell of Tifton, Miss Katherine Harman of Unadilla, Rev. and Mrs. L.E. Williams of Statesboro, Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Talley of Durham, N.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Watson of Odessadale.
