 George Welter, 73, of Ray City died Dec. 1, 2010 at Smith Northview Hospital in
in Valdosta.
 Born in Springfield, NJ, on Jan. 18, 1937, to the late Harry and Frances S
Samuelson Welter, he was a past Post Commander of American Legion Post 13, f
founding member of Westside Lanier Fire Department, 4th Degree Knights of C
Columbus and served in the United States Navy.
 Survivors include his wife, April Welter of Ray City; daughters and son-in-law,
Catheryn Welter, Lake Hopatcong, NJ, Janice 
law, Catheryn Welter, Lake Hopatcong, NJ, Janice Scalsky, Copperas Cove, TX, Johnia
Johnia and Daniel Allen, Statenville; grandchildren, Jonathan Scalsky, 
Jacquelyn Scalsky, Steven Scalsky, Sierra Allen, Maya Allen extended family, L
Linda King; special friends, Richard and Joann Brown and R.D. and Hilde Martin, a
all of Valdosta.
 A memorial service was held Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist 
Catholic Church with Father Dan O'Connell officiating. A rosary was held Dec. 3 
at 6 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
 Music Funeral Services of Valdosta was in charge of arrangements.
