Born June 16, 1946 in Bibb County to Sudie Lewis Wetherington of Hahira and the late Julian Wetherington, he was a retired HVAC serviceman with Civil Service at Moody AFB. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church and a Vietnam veteran with the U.S. Navy. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Roberta Atkinson Wetherington of Nashville; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Bart Nipert of Greenville, SC; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Anna and Catherine; a brother, Alan Wetherington of Adel. He was preceded in death by a brother, Van Wetherington. Funeral services were held Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Duncan and Mr. Phil Merwin officiating. Songs on CD included "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were Dennis Hale, Aiden Brown, Joe Harris, Jimmy Kutzli, Wallace Ganas, Buzzy Wynn, Jack Futch, William Wise.
