 George Harvey Wood, 78, of Nashville died August 20, 2005 at Tift Regional 
Medical Center.

 Born February 18, 1927 in Berrien County to the late Willie and Viola Mathis 
Wood, he was a retired senior chief petty officer with the U.S. Navy, and a 
veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a member of Ray City 
United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge #967 (past Exalted Ruler), VFW, Retired 
Enlisted and Fleet Reserve Associations, and was a ham radio operator.

 Survivors include his wife, Patricia Walsh Wood of Nashville; three daughters, 
Laura Conigliaro and Diane Gallion, both of Naugatuck, CT, Sharon Carpenter of 
Oviedo, FL; one son, George V. Wood of Rialto, CA; three sisters, Willene 
Hunter of Nashville, Velma Jefferson and Helen Clements, both of Ray City; six 
grandchildren, one great-grandchild.

 Funeral services were held August 23 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral 
Home with Rev. Wayne Mitchell officiating.

 Cremains were buried in Beaver Dam Cemetery.

 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
