Born Nov. 9, 1943, in Marked Treee, Arkansas, to Irene Fortner Wright of A Alapaha and the late Terry Brooks Wright, he was a retired brick mason and had b been employed with Chaparral Boats. He was a member of Ridge Avenue Church of C Christ in Tifton. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Mary Jo Hamby Wright of Alapaha; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Steven Purvis of Alapaha, Tina and Randy Dees of Pooler; sister, Virginia Pierce of Alapaha; granddaughter, Blair (Michael) Hagood, grandson, Brantley Barrentine, great granddaughter, Kaylee Hagood; nephew, Dr. Craig Pierce of Savannah. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Aaron Pierce. Funeral services were held Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home wit Home with Mr. Dave Simons and Mr. Richard Dale officiating. Mr. Ian Burgin gave the open the opening prayer. "The Lord's Prayer" was played on CD, and the congregation sang "Sh sang "Shall We Gather at the River" and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand," led by Bill Wis Bill Wiseman. Harold Chambers gave the closing prayer. Interment was in Fletcher Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Hayne Norton, Raymond Purvis, Lincoln Gaskins, Mickey Pierce Pierce, Tim Moore, Charles Bryan. Honorary pallbearers were Julian George Harper, Michael Davis, Mark Davis, Bill Bill Lee, Gene Griffin, Johnny Purvis, Jackie Gaskins, Harold Chambers Steven Brown Brown, Jason Griffin, Jerry Smith, Lauren Hand, Stanley Moore, Jerry Brogdon, Van T Van Tucker, Joe Dixon, Clay Hagood, Callis Spikes.
