He was born in Baker County on March 16, 1929, and grew up on a farm where his parents were sharecroppers. He attended Elmodel School. In 1948, he met his future bride, Billie Ruth Nix, and they were Married Au August 1950. He worked with the A&P Tea Company until he was drafted into the US US Army in 1952 as a private in the supply system and deployed to Korea. He se served is country with pride during his 25 years of service, which included wa wartime deployments to Korea and Vietnam (two tours), and peacetime deployments to to Japan, Germany and the Panama Canal Zone. He was formally recognized for his se service to our nation and awarded the Bronze Star Medal. in 1980, he and his wife purchased Levin Pecan Company and established Wright P Pecan Company, which they owned and operated for ten years. He was a volunteer, officer, and active, and active member of the VFW Post 5978 in Nashville. He loved animals, especially his many canine companions over the years. He enjoyed fresh-water fishing and backyard grilling and was an avid ga gardener, known for sharing his bounty with friends, neighbors, and his doctors an and their staff. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest, Albert and Carrie Pearl K Kirksey Wright; his sisters, Virginia Wright and Ann Wight Garrettson; and his b brother, Lonnie Wright. He is survived by his loving wife, Billie Ruth; their three children, Richard (Jan) of Savannah, Bill (Lynne) of Denver, CO, and Susan (David) Barney of Lynchburg, VA; six grandchildren, Travis, Justin and Virginia Wright, Stephanie (Justin) Schoop and David and Andrew Barney; brothers, Bob (Janet) and Warren ( (Peggy); nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. Funeral services were held May 19 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home Home with the Revs. Billy Southerland and Stanley Luke officiating. Grandson, Andre Andrew Wright Barney sang "Winter Wind." Interment followed at Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers were members of VFW Post 5978 Honorary pallbearers were VFW Post 5978 Ladies Auxiliary members. The requests remembrances be made to Berrien County Humane Society, P.O.
