 Irene Wright, 94, of Alapaha died February 23, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical C
Center.
 She was born March 28, 1918, in Prentiss County, Mississippi, to the late Zeb 
and Ollie Barnes Fortner. She was a homemaker and together with her husband, 
the late Brooks Wrights, owned and operated the Alapaha Café for many years. 
She was a member of Nashville Church of Christ. She was also preceded in death 
by a son, Terry Wright, son-in-law, Aaron Pierce, and two brothers, Max L. F
Fortner and Zeb Fortner, Jr.
 Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Pierce of Alapaha; daughter-in-law, 
Mary Jo Wright of Alapaha; three grandchildren, Dr. Craig Pierce, Lisa Purvis 
and Tina Dees, two great grandchildren, Blair Hagood and Brantley Barrentine, 
great-great granddaughter, Kaylee Hagood; brother, Vernon Fortner of Houston, M
MS; two sisters; Eloise Beard and Faye Caldwell, both of Booneville, MS.
 Funeral services will be held February 27 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Lovein 
Funeral Home with Minister Richard Dale officiating. Songs on CD will 
include “Go Rest High on That Mountain” and “What a Friend We have in Jesus.”
 Interment will follow at Fletcher Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, February 26 f
from 6 to 8.
 Active pallbearers will be Steve Brown, Steven Brown, Paul Brown, Hayne Norten
Norten, Julian Fields, David Hamby.
 Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Purvis, Donald Griffin, Mike Hamby, K
Kenneth Lee, Bill Lee, Stanley Moore, Joe Dixon, John Dixon, George Harper, K
Kenneth Griner, Ron Hamby.
 Lovein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
