The Berrien Press -- Larry Kenneth Young, Sr., 71, of Ray City died June 23, 
2008 at his residence.
 He was born on January 7, 1937 in Beauregard Parish, LA to the late Andrew 
and Bertha Ann Whitman Young. He was a retired educator and rancher, member of 
Georgia and Berrien County Cattleman's Associations, Louisiana Retired 
Teachers Association, former Mayor of Reeves, LA, member, Deacon Emeritus and 
Sunday School teacher at New Bethel Baptist Church, and a United States Air 
Force veteran with 13 years of service.
 Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Touchton Young of Ray City; two daughters, 
Evelyn (Greg) Werbaneth, Kansas City, MO., Carol (Marvin) Jones, Columbia, SC; 
one son, Larry K. (Lisa) Young, Jr., Ray City; one brother, Jerry Young, 
Vidor, TX; one sister, Geraldine Hanchey, Deridder, LA; eight grandchildren, 
Katherine, Elizabeth and Laura Werbaneth, Lexie, Lindsey and Logan Young, Eric 
and Anna Jones; his mother-in-law, Mrs. J. O. Touchton, sisters-in-law, Sally 
Exum and Inez Steedley.
 Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on June 26 at New Bethel Baptist 
Church with the Revs. Jim Schappaugh and Jeff Fletcher officiating. The church 
choir sang "Amazing Grace," "Victory in Jesus," and "In the Garden," 
accompanied by Nell Daniel.
 Interment was in New Bethel Cemetery.
 Pallbearers were Ben Strickland, Steve Stalvey, Kenny Rendon, Buddy McDonald, 
Jack Glover, Billy Atkinson.
 Lovein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
