Born June 5, 2934 in Coffee County to the last Albert and Henrietta Cribbs Purvis, he had lived in Nashville for the past 25 years and worked in the construction business before retiring. He was a member of Nashville Holiness Church. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helene West Purvis. Survivors include son, Billy Purvis of Willacoochee; daughter, Abigail Purvis; two brothers, Hilton Purvis of Willacoochee and Alfred Lee Purvis of Nashville; two sisters, Mary Alice Burch and Dorothy Mae Taylor, both of Douglas; several nieces and nephews and other relatives. A graveside service was held March 25 at 3 p.m. at Willacoochee City Cemetery with the Rev. Johnny Smith officiating. Interment followed at Willacoochee City Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Raymond Purvis, Michael Medders, Greg O'Steen, David Roberson, Milton Purvis, Billy Purvis. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson was in charge of arrangements..
