Carr, 251 Ponce de Leon Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia. John Allen, born in Virginia, July 14th, 1759. Myrick Middleton Wilson, born in Virginia but time not given. Date of Capt. John Allen and Mrs. Wilson is not given, but their oldest child Nancy was born July 5th, 1783. Joel Cherry was born October 21st, 1768. He married Nancy Allen, December 23, 1802. To them were born 12 children. John M. Jane Margaret “ “ “ June 18th 1823 John M. Cherry married Elizabeth Elliot, March 11th, 1824. They moved to West Tennessee and were lost sight of. Mary, called Polly, married Adam R. Howell, Nov. 26th, 1826. George Hawfield married Priscilla, Mrs. Carr’s mother, July 22, 1828. Hawfield died and his widow married H. P. Redding, and they have two daughters living in Atlanta, Georgia, Miss Mary Redding, and Mrs. Jane Carr. Wiley Cherry married Matilda Moore, June 17th, 1831. Mrs. E. C. Smallwood, 5304 Junius St., Dallas, Texas, is the only living child of Wiley Cherry. Joel Thomas Cherry married Susan L. McLellan, September 5th, 1837 (your grandparents). Hilliard J. Cherry married Martha Wright, March 2nd, 1848. He lived and died in Macon, Georgia. Has several living children. Elizabeth Middleton Cherry married John A. Wherry, October 26th, 1843. They moved to Mississippi. Have no living children but a granddaughter, Mrs. Paul H. Murphy of Lexington, Mississippi, is a member of the D. A. R.. Her husband is our Chancery Clerk. Jane M. Cherry married John Porter, April 11th, 1844. They had no children. Francis A. Cherry married Mary Ann Maguire, March 24th, 1839. They had no living children. Joshua Cherry’s marriage is not recorded in the old Bible, but he has three or four living children in Texas. Harriet Cherry married a man named Kirk but I do not know what became of them, though they moved to Mississippi. James Allen Cherry died before he was married. My grand-father Joel Cherry died January 10th, 1848 and grand-mother Nancy Cherry died June 24th, 1859. Note: Letter from John M. Cherry, son of Mary (Polly) Cherry and Adam Howell. I do not know whom the letter was addressed to. I only know that it was one of Joel Thomas Cherry’s grandchildren. Possibly Geogette Lipford. Joel Thomas Cherry’s wife, Susan Council McCallum, and their children and grandchildren, with the exception of John Myrick Cherry and his wife Frances Dozier, are buried at Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery, 6511 Houston Road, Macon, GA 31206.
