He was married to Mary Taylor, a cousin of ex-President Zachary Taylor, who was born in Orange County, Virginia. Christopher Chambless was a solder from Virginia in General Nathaniel Greene's command, during the Revolutionary War. The children of Christopher and Mary Taylor Chambless were: Mary Louvicy Chambless, born 1792; died 1857. She married Thomas George Jordan in 1814 and some of their Jordan descendants are now living in Talbot County, Georgia; Henry Chambless, my fathers maternal grandfather, who married Rachel Danielly and was one of the early settlers of Macon, Georgia. Samuel Chambless my mothers maternal grandfather who married Jane Danielly and who lived and died in Bibb County, Georgia. Jephtha Chambless, father of Edmund Chambless, Monroe County, Georgia. Henry Chambless, born in Virginia, died in Monroe County, Goeriga. He was married to Rachel Danielly Oct. 12, 1809 in Virginia. He came to North Carolina with all the rest of the kin, and after the great drought in North Carolina about 1815 or 1816 came on to Georgia and settled a year or so in Jefferson County, adjoining Warren County. Leaving, Jefferson County, Henry Chambless came to Macon, and was one of the early settlers of Macon. In 1826 his brother in law, William J Danielly was one of the commissioners of Macon, and was Captain of the Macon Volunteers the same year. Later, Henry Chambless moved from Macon to Monroe County, where he died. His widow, Rachel then married Simon Parker in her old age. The children of Henry and Rachel Danielly Chambless were: Lawson Greene CHambless born August 24, 1810, in Virginia; died in Monroe County, Georgia. He married twice and left a large family of children. Jane Chambless, born May 22, 1812, married Perry Neel, and died in Bibb County, Georgia, leaving a large family of children. Mary Chambless, (my grandmother) born February 1, 1814 married Gardner Lemuel Davis, died in Crawford County, Georgia Februaru 27, 1887. Christopher Chambless born May 2, 1817; died Dec 22, 1822. Louvicy Chambless, born August 10, 1819 died August 10, 1822 Andrew D Chambless, born July 4, 1822 died in Stewart County, Georgia. He was married twice and left a large family. William Chambless, born October 4, 1827; died in Texas in 1885. He married Marth Pye, sister of John Pye, who married Sara Ann Chambless, sister of William H Chambless. He left a large family in Texas. Joseph B Chambless, born January 6, 1827, married Adeline Hobbs, and left a large family in Meriwether County, Georgia. John T Chambless, born March 14, 1829; lived in Monroe County, Georgia, married a Miss Middlebrooks, who died leaving a son, James Chambless. John T Chambless married a second time, another Miss Middlebrooks, who died leaving a daughter Lizzie. He then moved to Meriwether County and married a third time leaving several children. Sara Ann Chambless, born May 30, 1832; married John Pye, Talbot County, Georgia. She lived and died in Talbot County, leaving six children only two of whom are living. These are: Mrs. Johnnie Woodall, Woodland Georgia Mrs, Jennie Smith, Woodland Georgia and to Mrs. Jennie Smith, I am indebted for some of the most important data in this manuscript. My mothers maternal grandfather was Samuel Chambless, a brother of Henry Chambless and his wife was Jane Danielly, born March 8, 1772; died Oct. 15, 1867. Jane was a sister of Rachel Danielly, wife of Henry Chambless, so two of my great-grandfathers were brothers and their wives were sisters, making my two grandmothers double first cousins. samuel and Jane Daneilly Chambless were married November 20, 1814. The children were: Jane Chambless Jones, Montgomery, Alabama Mary (Polly) died a baby Eliza Chambless Parker, Bibb County, Georgia Mary (Polly) Chambless Raley, Bibb County, Georgia named for her dead sister Rachel Chambless Russell, Decatur Georgia Rebecca Chambless Erwin, Bibb County, Georgia Frances Chambless Vansant, Bibb County, Georgia Lucinda Chambless Waldron, Bibb County, Georgia Sara Chambless Callaway, Bibb County, Georgia Angelina Chambless, Bibb County, Georgia All these families came to Georgia in 1819 just after the great drought of Western North Carolina, and settled in Jefferson County, Georgia. From there, they dispersed all over Georgia. The Danielly family was in the same colony and were closely related to W J Danielly, Intendant of Macon in 1830, also Captain of the Macon Volunteers that same year.
