White Sells Slaves Upson County, Georgia January 9, 1853 Deed Book G page 476 Document 5 Bibb County, Georgia For and inconsideration of the accommodation endorsement of A. J. White of a note made in Macon on the seventh day of January eighteen hundred and fifty-two payable on the twenty fifth day of December ??? ensuing payable to the order of A. J. White and made by myself for the sum of sixteen hundred and five dollars. I, John J. Carey of the county and state aforesaid do sell unto A. J. White of the same place, the following negro (sic) slaves to wit: Jim, a man of dark complexion about twenty-one years of age; Abe, a negro (sic) boy of light complexion about seventeen; Frederick, a negro (sic) boy of light complexion about fifteen years of age; and Harry, a man about forty years of age, and the title and right to said bargained negroes (sic) I, the said John J. Casey do and will warrant unto the said A. J. White his heirs, executors, and administrators against the claims of myself and all persons whatever. This bill of sale is to be delivered up and cancelled upon the payment of said sum of sixteen hundred dollars and five dollars by the said J. J. Carey to the said A. J. White. In testimony whereof I, the said John J. Casey do hereunto set my hand and seal this the sixth day of January eighteen hundred and fifty-two. John J. Carey Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of on this day January 9, 1852 P. E. Bowdre Thomas W. Baxter Upson, Georgia. Personally came P. E. Bowdre who deposeth and said on oath that he saw John J. Carey sign, seal, and deliver the within instrument for the purposes in it contained; that deponent subscribed the same as a witness and saw Thomas W. Baxter do so likewise.
