This battalion was organized in September, 1863, as Siege Artillery, but from January 1864, it acted as infantry. About April, 1865, the battalion was consolidated with the 47TH Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Regulars, to form the 1ST (Consolidated) Regiment Georgia Infantry, Regulars. Co. H, was formerly Co. C, 20TH Alabama Battalion Artillery.
