Isaacs removed the remains of several persons who had been buried years ago on the land of Mr. H. C. Tindall. The graves were in the family burial ground of Mr. James Perry and Mr. Charles Beasley, both of whom were among the earlier citizens of Macon. The land having been recently sold, the purchasers required the removal of the remains, and brought two lots in Rose Hill Cemetery for that purpose. The removal was done under the supervision of Mr. Isaacs. Twelve persons were buried in the old lot. One of these was Mr. James Perry, who was poisoned by one of his slaves in 1843. This slave was subsequently caught by Mr. Wm. Beasley, father of Mrs. Isaacs, hidden in a cave ion the east side of the river with his family, and in which he lived for a long time. Another was Mrs. Parker. She was a Miss King and married Mr. Perry, and after his death went to Montgomery, where she married a Mr. Parker. She was a sister of Mrs. Sarah Hatchings, of Macon and died about twenty-three years ago. Another was her sister Miss Melvina King. Another was Mr. Charles Beasley, one of Macon’s early and best citizens. By his side was the grave of his wife, Elizabeth. His two sons, William and Charles, were also buried there, along with Rebecca, daughter of the latter. There were also buried there two children of Mr. Joe Beasley and two children of Mrs. E. Espinner. All of these were buried many, many years ago, and there was but little left of the remains. The sad duty of removal was finished late in the afternoon and now the bones will rest undisturbed in Rose Hill.
