                   BIBB COUNTY POLICE OFFICER'S
                     11 SEPTEMBER 1897
     Bibb County will probably have police officers in every neighborhood before
long. Already Mr. B. D. Lumsden and his neighbor in East Macon district have
arranged to employ a special officer to patrol their section, and at the meeting
of the county road commissioners at the last meeting , Capt. R. E. Park made a
strong and telling speech in favor of the movement. He urged that the county
commissioners should take the matter up at once, and train bloodhounds to be at
all times subject to the orders of the county officers. The matter has takena
strong hold on the minds of the people who have been considering the necessities
for such a course and Capt. Park thinks he will soon be able to accomplish his
undertaking.
