The Georgia Enterprise, March 21, 1889 March 21, 1889
     On Sunday, fire was discovered in the second story of the Walker building, 
in West Point. The ground floor was occupied by Causey & Satterwhite, grocers, 
and Hudman & Lanier, as bottling works. The second floor was used as a shoe 
shop, barbershop and sleeping apartments. The odor of burning kerosene 
attracted the attention of some of the citizens who were passing, which led to 
the discovery of the fire. Suspicion rests on J. L. CARPENTER, shoemaker, who 
is under arrest.
