All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Elaine Wiles http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00014.html#0003315 April 18, 2006, 6:17 pm Macon Telegraph And Messengr January 10, 1876 NOTICE Georgia – Bibb County To the Honorable Barnard Hill, Judge of the Superior Court of the Macon Circuit: The petition of Mary Doyle (in religion Mother Bonaventure), Marguerite Scully (in religion Mother Bernard), Amelia Summers (in religion Sister Xavier), of the Sisters of Mercy, founded by Mother McAuly, respectively, showeth: That they, and their successors, desire to be incorporated, under the name and style of the “Trustees of Mount de Sales Academy,” which academy, when built, will be located in said county. They further pray that all vacancies in said Board may be filled by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Savannah, who shall be ex officio President of Said Board. The object of your petitioners is to acquire property, receive gifts and donations for the purpose of establishing said academy for the instruction and training of young women; also for the purpose of performing works of charity, and for the conferring of such literary and other degrees as are usual in such institutions, with the privilege also of establishing by-laws, rules, and regulations for the management of said academy. Petitioners further show unto your Honor that a capital of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) has actually been paid in, but they desire, from time to time, to increase said capital to two hundred thousand ($200,000), with these privileges and immuneities, for the term of twenty years, with power of renewal. For all of which purposes petitioners pray your Honor to grant an order conferring upon petitioners, and their successors, the privileges applicable to their incorporation, as enumerated in the various clauses of section 1676 of the Revised Code of Georgia. And petitions will ever pray, etc .
