Abernathy of 3173 O'Hara Drive North died Tuesday in a Dublin Hospital after an extended illness. He was a 64 year old retired paint shop foreman and civil engineer mechanic at Robins Air Force Base. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 1987 in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Revs. Ted Bass and Vaughn Foster officiated. Mr. Abernathy was a native of Monroe County and had lived in Macon for the past 43 years. He was a member of Lynmore United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men's Club, the Ever Ready Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife, Berma N. Abernathy of Macon; a son, Boyce Neal Abernathy of Satiago, Chile; a daughter, Kate Abernathy of Alpaharetta; a brother, Bluford Lee Abernathy of Macon; two sisters, Martha Louise Swilley of Fort Valley and Frances Sullivan of Elberta; and three grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Thomas C. Burke Fooundation or Lynmore United Methodist Church Organ Fund. The family greeted friends at Crest Lawn Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. on December 2, 1987 Additional Comments: Sidney B.
