(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net August 21, 2013, 7:21 pm The Macon Telegraph 2-24-1945 Page 3 Dock Arnold Funeral services for Dock Arnold, night watchman, who died at his residence, No. 3 Union Avenue, at 6:30am Friday, from a sudden heart attack, will be held in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary at 4pm Saturday. The Rev. Ralph D. Hughes, pastor of the Eastside Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be in Fort Hill Cemetery. Mr. Arnold was born in Twiggs County, Feb 8, 1877, the son of Dock Arnold and Catherine Smith Arnold, and had lived in Macon since childhood. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Catherine Bennett, Macon and Mrs. Minnie Johnson, Gordon; two sisters, Mrs. Bedia Heath and Mrs. Mattie Dicks, of Macon; seven grandchildren. Additional Comments: Dock's wife was Minnie Palmer Arnold, who is also buried at Fort Hill. A son, Dock Lee Arnold is also buried at Fort Hill. Georgia death certificate #1791. Some researchers list his mother as Catherine Grimsley, although this obituary is different.
