Beasley, 58, of 725 Wimbish Road died unexpectedly yesterday in a local hospital. Beasley was a member of the Macon Fire Dept. for several years and was the first fire chief of the Camp Wheeler Fire Dept. during World War II. He also served as the first fire chief of Robins Air Force Base Fire Dept. and had served in that capacity until the time of his death. He was a member of Cherokee Heights Baptist Church, Ft. Hawkins Lodge 412 F&AM, and the Scottish Rite. Chief Beasley was born in Bibb County, the son of C. P. Beasley and Edith Cribb Beasley, and had lived here all of his life. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Clyde Collins; one daughter, Mrs. John I. Moran, Macon; one grandson, Dan W. Hamlin, Macon; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Hart's Mortuary. Additional Comments: James was born 27 Jun 1903. Georgia death certificate #11908. Both James and his wife are buried at Macon Memorial Park.
