Brooks Killed By Storekeeper At Bailey’s Crossing Macon, Ga., Nov. 10 – B.C. Brooks, well known in Central Georgia, is dead and C.O. Hilley, proprietor of a store at Bailey’s crossing, Bellevue, is charged with killing him. Brook’s throat was cut. The difficulty took place in Hilley’s store early Saturday night and it is said followed a quarrel about a trivial matter. Hilley was arrested at his home nearby and taken to jail. The men were neighbors. Brooks went to the store and complained about a purchase a member of his family made there which he said was not satisfactory. Hot words were passed and it is alleged that Hilley drew a knife and slashed Brooks. He was killed almost instantly. Both men were married. Hilley has a wife and two children. Brooks is survived by a wife and five children. Brooks had for seven years been connected with the circulation department of the Macon News as solicitor.
