Bass died at Gainesville Saturday afternoon where he had gone to recuperate in health, after a lingering illness surrounded by his wife and two grown daughters. His remains were carried to Macon for burial. For a number of years Capt. Bass was a conductor on the Southwestern railroad, afterwards was made agent at this place, and moved to Americus where he lived for several years. From here he was appointed as general manager of the Port Royal road, of the Central system and sometime lived in Augusta. From there he was appointed as Superintendent of the A.P.&L. railroad, which position he filled with credit and distinction. A more affable, polite man than Capt. Bass never lived. Kind and courteous to all, with malice toward none, he made friends wherever he was known. But he has passed away and leaves behind a record of which any man might justly be proud File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/bibb/obits/b/ob6050bass.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.6 Kb
