Carter, who died at his residence in Atlanta Thursday afternoon, will be held at 4pm today in the chapel of Hart's Mortuary. Elder A. J. Banks will officiate and interment will be in Macon Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Albert Jackson, Sam Stanford, Jack Savage, John Hancock, Paul Williams, and George R. Stovall. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. J. B. Pope, Macon and Mrs. Charles Rohr, Washington, DC; step-daughter, Mrs. Emily Louise Carter, Atlanta; seven sons, Willie Moscus Carter, Dublin, John Bennie Carter, Cochran, Perue Carter, Macon, Dudlee Carter, Danville, Zaruian Carter, Danville, Egliseus Carter, Boothwyn, Pa., and Colothree Carter, Jeffersonville; 28 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Additional Comments: John was born abt 1866 in Alabama. His parents are believed to be Josephus W. Carter and Francis E. Ross. His first wife was Dona Chance Carter and is buried at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Twiggs County. His second was Annie Briscoe Carter and is also buried at Macon Memorial Park. His death certificate is listed a James W. Carter, Certificate #17552.
