The family received friends on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 P.M. at Crest Lawn. Graveside services followed at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Elder Dan Bryant officiated. -Born in Sweetwater, Texas, he was the son of the late Jesse Monroe Denton and Mary Elizabeth Barton Denton. Graduating from Lanier High School in 1948, he enlisted in the United States Navy from 1948-1956 discharging as an Aviation Mechanic having served on the USS Roosevelt and the USS Coral Sea. In 1961 he graduated from the former Dudley Hughes Trade School in Macon where he received his vocational training later retiring from Inland Container as a millwright. Elder Denton was ordained as a minister on October 12, 1975 at Hale Primitive Baptist Church beginning a faithful service to the Lord. He ministered in many churches and had co-pastored the Primitive Baptist Church of Cool Springs in Thompson Station, Tennessee since 2000. Elder Denton found great joy in praising the Lord through music and the playing of the mandolin. He had a great joy of life and spent his years sharing in the Word and of the love of his Lord. Elder Denton was preceded in death by his first wife: Della Mae Chesser Denton; one brother: Beale B. Denton and one sister: G. Waucel Fowler. -He is survived by his wife: Neva J. Goodman Belew Denton of Columbia, Tennessee; children: Michael M. (Beverly) Denton of Crawfordsville, Indiana and Patricia D. (James) Fennel of Macon; step-children: Marilyn J. (Stephan) Haynes of Hartselle, Alabama, Jeffrey D. (Theressa) Belew of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Vance A. (Paula) Belew of Columbia, Tennessee, and Philip A. Belew of Pulaski, Tennessee; grandchildren: Briana D. Fennel, Matthew R. Fennel and Kyle P. Fennel, all of Macon; step-grandchildren: Byron D. Haynes, Amanda D. Haynes and James E. Haynes, all of Hartselle, Alabama, Benjamin H. Belew of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Bryant A. Belew of Columbia, Tennessee, Eric A. Belew of Columbia, Tennessee, Ashley F. Belew of Pulaski, Tennessee, Colten A. Belew of Pulaski, Tennessee, and David Swesey of Park City, Tennessee; step-great-grandchildren: Christian A. Swesey of Lewisburg, Tennessee and Beverlyann M.
