Garnto Hoke Smith Garnto, 72 of 3645 Morgan Drive, died Wednesday in a local hospital. Arrangements will be announced by Memorial Chapel Funeral Directors. Mr. Garnto, a native of Wilkinson County, lived in Macon since 1951. He was a retired routeman for Cherokee Farms Dairy Co. and was a member of Centerville Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lila Mae Garnto of Macon; five sons, Oscar Garnto of Savannah, Horace Garnto of Dublin, Oliver Garnto of Birmingham, Ala., Wade Garnto of Los Angeles, Calif., and Larry Garnto of Warner Robins; two daughters, Mrs. Sara Taylor and Mrs. Mildred Gilbert, both of Macon; three stepsons, Joe Lowery, Hoke Smith Jr., and Glen Smith, all of Macon; and 19 grandchildren. The family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lowery, 4096 Shearwater Drive. Additional Comments: Hoke was born 11 Dec 1906 to James W. Garnto and Senia Evelyn Fordham Garnto. His first wife was Nellie Pearl Freeman Garnto who is buried at Poplar Springs North Baptist Church Cemetery in Laurens County. His second wife was Lila Mae Lamb Lowery Garnto. Both Hoke and Lila Mae are buried at Macon Memorial Park in Macon, Ga.
