Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 5th at 11:00 am at Sunnyside Cemetery, 8th Ave (Cemetery Rd), Cordele, GA. Procession will begin at Rainey Funeral Home approx 10:45 am. Visitation will be Monday, February 4th from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Rainey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Cordele, GA. -Mr. Haley was born July 3, 1927 in Albany, Dougherty County, GA. He graduated from Albany High School in 1944. After completing his first year at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1945 he served one year in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He returned to Georgia Tech completing his degree in mechanical engineering in1950. After graduating, Mr. Haley moved to Cordele to manage his family's Coca-Cola bottling plant. He owned a car dealership in Cordele for many years and at his death was owner of Albany Lincoln Mercury. -Mr Haley's passion since boyhood was Boy Scouting. He was a boy scout in his youth and as an adult served as Scoutmaster for Troop 43 in the Chehaw Council of which he served as a volunteer commissioner. In 1985 he earned the Silver Beaver Award of excellence in scouting. He was a member of the Elks Club, and served in the Lions Club for many years. As a member First Methodist Church in Cordele, he served as Sunday School teacher and youth leader. -He is predeceased by his parents, William Banks Haley and Vernon Shelley Haley and six siblings. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Patricia Bridges Haley, sons, Henry Curtis Haley (Diane) Gainesville, GA; Joel Banks Haley (Beth) Loganville, and daughters, Jenny Haley Abbitt (Bob) Elizabeth City, NC; Rebecca Lynn Haley Moody (Eric), Forsyth, GA.
