The Macon Telegraph Macon, Bibb County, Georgia Wednesday Morning, August 7, 1901 Page 8. MRS. JACOB HEARD OF RUTLAND DISTRICT IS DEAD. ------------------------------------ AT THE AGE OF 80 YEARS. THE MOTHER OF NINE PROMINENT CITIZEBS OF BIBB COUNTY PASSED AWAY AT THE RESIDENCE OF ONE OF HER SONS. ------------------------------------ Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Heard widow of the late J. F. Heard, Sr. died yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the home of her son, Dr. J. H. Heard, in Rutland district, seven miles from this city. Mrs. Heard was in her eightieth year and was ill for several weeks, but she bore her afflictions with the same patience and fortitude that characterized entire life. She leaves a large family of children to mourn her death, consisting of six sons and three daughters, who are Messrs. J. M., B. A., J. P., J. H., J. F. and W. J. Heard and Mrs. E. T. Morton, Mrs. R. E. Grace and Mrs. G. P. Postell. She was married sixty-two years ago, and has been a consistent member of the Primitive Baptist church for the past fifty seven years. She was well known in Macon and has three sons in the cotton business in this city. The funeral will take place this afternoon at three o’clock from Sardis church about ten miles from this city. The funeral services will be conducted by Elders W. W. Childs and J. T. Reynolds. The interment will be in the family burying grounds near the church. Her six sons will act as pallbearers Additional Comments: Compiler Notes: Jacob Foreman Heard (1815-1891) married Mary Elizabeth Busbee on 7 Jul 1839. She was 16 years old and place of marrage is not given. She was born 17 Jul 1822. Senator Walter Franklin George of Vienna Dooly County Georgia married a Heard, this is the same family.
