M. Heard. Jacob Milton Heard, 91, of 896 Laurel Ave. died Thursday in a local hospital after an extended illness. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Rose Hill Cemetery. Dr. Walter Moore and Dr. Frank Robertson. Mr. Heard a Bibb County native, was a graduate of Mercer University and was associated with Heard Brothers, cotton factors, in which he was a partner until his retirement. He was a member of the Vineville Baptist Church, the Baraca Class, the Macon Rotary Club and the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Until his retirement he was a trustee of Mercer University and a director of the Citizens and Southern National Bank and the Macon Federal Savings and Loan Association. Mercer University granted Mr. Heard the Algernon Award and an honorary degree. Survivors include a son, Dr. Milton Heard Jr.; A grandson Milton Heard III; and a great-granddaughter, Kathhryn Murphey Heard of Macon. Hart’s Mortuary is in charge. Additional Comments: Compiler Notes: Jacob Milton Heard was the son of Jacob Milton Heard, Sr. (1840-1917) & Epsey America Barfield. He is buried at Sardis Cemetery beside his 2nd wife: Georgia M. Mosely {1854-1936}. His 1st wife Epsey America Barfield is buried at the Barfield Cemetery with her family in Bibb County, Georgia. Jacob Milton Heard {above} was married Susie Little who died on 4 February 1955 in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia. She was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery next to her husband. She was the daughter of: Thomas Kinchen Little., *CSA {1846-1925} & Eliabeth "Lizzie" Carter {1850-1924}. They are both buried at Riverside cemetery and are listed in Find A Grave.
