Heard, Retired Banker, Expires Prominent Macon Citizen Dies After An Illness Extending Over A Long Period From the Macon Telegraph Jacob F. Heard, formerly president of the Fourth National Bank, prominent cotton dealer and farmer, died Saturday morning about 2 o’clock at his home, 102 Heard Avenue. Death followed an illness of several months. He was 59 years old and for thirty-five years has been a resident of Macon, much of the time one of the most prominent men of the business world. He was always an active businessman and was considered by his thousands of friends and business associates a men who could always be depended on to stand for right and justice. He is survived by this wife, four sons, A.J. Heard, of Michigan; J.T. Heard, of Savannah; J.F. Heard, Jr. and Llewellyn Heard, of Macon, and one daughter, Mrs. G.M. Wicker, of Macon. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and took a great interest in all the undertakings in which his denomination interested themselves. For years he has been a member of the firm of Heard Bros., cotton warehousemen.
